Windows-style taskbar for macOS
uBar 5 turns macOS into a Windows-style taskbar: app tiles, live window previews, a bar on every display and an optional dock mode, for a one-time $39. InfyniDock is a window-first Dock: each window can become a direct target, with Notch Dock, FloatDock, Full Dock, workspaces and per-window hotkeys, for a one-time $12. uBar is the better fit if you miss the Windows taskbar and already run macOS 26. InfyniDock is the better fit if you want exact-window access on macOS 13 or later, at a lower price.

Traditional Dock replacement
ActiveDock 2 is a traditional Dock replacement: window previews, app groups and folders, a start menu, themes, custom icons and multi-monitor placement, sold as a one-time license with a 14-day trial. InfyniDock is a window-first Dock: each window can become a direct target, with Notch Dock, FloatDock, Full Dock, workspaces and per-window hotkeys for $12. ActiveDock is a good fit if you want a classic, familiar Dock with more organization. InfyniDock is the better fit if your main problem is one app with too many windows.

Window previews for the native Dock
DockMate adds hover previews and window controls to the native macOS Dock, plus calendar and music views, for $14.99. InfyniDock is a window-first Dock: windows become direct targets in the Dock, the MacBook notch or a floating switcher, with workspaces and per-window hotkeys for $12. DockMate is the lighter choice if you only want previews on the system Dock. InfyniDock is the safer choice if you want a maintained app for current macOS versions and exact-window access. Check DockMate's compatibility before buying: its vendor page lists version 0.8.7 from March 2021.

Legacy Dock preview utility
HyperDock popularized hover previews and window controls in the Mac Dock. Its public releases are old enough that compatibility with current macOS versions is the first thing to check. InfyniDock takes the same idea further: previews plus window-level targets, Notch Dock, FloatDock, Full Dock, workspaces and per-window hotkeys for a one-time $12. HyperDock may still be useful on an older Mac where it already works. For a new setup in 2026, an actively maintained app is the lower-risk choice.

Keyboard window switcher
AltTab and InfyniDock both jump to a specific window, but they live in different places. AltTab is a keyboard-first overlay: Option-Tab shows live thumbnails of every window, free and open source, with Pro extras for $9.99. InfyniDock is a Dock-first surface: windows become targets in the Dock, the MacBook notch or a floating switcher, with workspaces and per-window hotkeys for $12. AltTab's free tier is excellent and hard to beat for pure keyboard speed. InfyniDock is the better shape if you want windows visible and clickable all day.

Window snapping and tiling
Rectangle and InfyniDock solve adjacent problems. Rectangle moves and resizes windows with shortcuts and snap areas; it is free, open source and excellent at layout. InfyniDock decides which window you are working in: windows become targets in the Dock, the MacBook notch or a floating switcher, with previews, workspaces and per-window hotkeys for $12. If your pain is arranging windows, use Rectangle. If it is finding the right window among many, use InfyniDock. Most people can run both without conflict.

Built-in, app-first Dock
Free and familiar, but one Dock icon usually means one app. Window lists sit behind a right-click menu or a separate system view.

Each comparison has a dedicated "where they win" block. If the other app fits you better, the page says so.
InfyniDock can run as a window-first Dock or as a companion via Notch Dock and FloatDock, so you do not have to give up the native Dock.
It can be. InfyniDock runs as Full Dock when you want a window-first replacement, or as Notch Dock and FloatDock when you want to keep the native Dock and add window-level access.
Read DockFix if you are choosing a Dock replacement, and AltTab if you are choosing a window switcher. Those two cover the most common buying decisions; uBar, ActiveDock, DockMate, HyperDock and Rectangle cover narrower workflows.
Each page is checked against the vendor's public pricing and feature pages, with the checked date shown on the page and links to the sources. InfyniDock is our product, so we keep the comparison to verifiable facts and state where the other app is the better choice.
